Figure 31-8 shows how the TPC for Replication server connects to the storage servers which
are going to be managed by TPC for Replication server(s). It does not show the connectivity
of the TPC for Replication server to the network through which the users connect with their
browsers to the server itself.
Figure 31-8 TPC for Replication system overview
The TPC for Replication server contains, besides the actual functional code, DB2 UDB and
WebSphere® software.
IP communication services also contain an event listening capability to react on respective
trap messages from the storage servers. This provides a handle to plan for particular events
and provide preestablished scripts that are going to be triggered by a corresponding trap
message. This also includes a capability to distinguish between the different storage servers
that can be managed by the Replication Manager, such as DS6000, DS8000, ESS 800, and
SVC. This approach has the potential to be enhanced as storage servers change over time
without touching the functional code and the involved database.
Figure 31-9 on page 481 shows how the Replication Manager server connects to the DS6000
and DS8000.
