20.2.7 CQUERY

The CQUERY command is used to query the status of one volume of a Global Copy volume
pair or all paths that are associated with the LSS for the device number that is specified. The
CQUERY command can be issued to either a primary or secondary Global Copy volume. A
host system that is attached only to a primary volume cannot obtain the status of the
secondary volume for that pair. In the same way, a host attached only to the secondary
volume cannot obtain the status of the primary volume.
In Example 20-6, a CQUERY VOLUME command for volume 6030 is issued. The VOLUME
parameter is the default, so it does not have to be specified.
Example 20-6 CQUERY command
CQUERY DEVN(X'6030')
The output of the CQUERY command, as shown in Example 20-7, provides volume-related
information, such as SSID, CCA, LSS number, and DS6000 serial number. The TSO
CQUERY command output for a Global Copy pair returns the
number of out-of-sync tracks.
Example 20-7 CQUERY command
ANTP8802I CQUERY DEVN(X'6030')
ANTP0090I CQUERY FORMATTED LVL 3 161

The number of out-of-sync tracks, tracks on volume, and percent of copy complete are not
displayed if all tracks are in sync. Path information is displayed only when the CQUERY
VOLUME command is issued to the primary volume.

20.2.8 CRECOVER

The CRECOVER command is used to allow the recovery system to gain control of the
volumes. This command is issued from the recovery system to the secondary volume. It
signals the recovery Storage Image to force the secondary volume into simplex state.
