8. Attach the power cable to the new power module that was installed in the
BladeCenter unit; then, route the cables through the strain-relief clamp. Leave
enough slack when routing the cable so that it can be disconnected, if
necessary.
Thumb screw
a. Unscrew the thumb screw and remove the strain-relief clamp from the
power module.
b. Wrap the strain-relief clamp around the power cable, leaving about a 10
cm (4 in.) slack in each cable.
c. Reattach the strain-relief clamp to the power module and secure it with the
thumb screw.
9. Make sure that the other end of the power cable is attached to a 220-volt
power distribution unit (PDU) or directly into a 220-volt ac power outlet.
10. Make sure the LEDs on the power module indicate that it is operating properly.
Verify that the dc and ac power LEDs on the power module are lit. During
typical operation, both the ac and dc power LEDs are lit.
11. Repeat steps 3 through 10 for the second power module (power module 2 or
power module 4). If there are no additional power modules to install continue
with step 12.
12. Replace the acoustic module option, if you removed it previously.
13. If you are replacing power modules with power modules that have a different
wattage rating, install the power information label that comes with the new
power modules on the BladeCenter unit. Install the label following the
instructions that are on the label.
14. Upgrade all management modules installed in the BladeCenter unit to the
latest level of management-module firmware. The latest firmware is at the IBM
Support Web site at http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/.
See the documentation that comes with your BladeCenter unit for additional
information about the power supply modules. Store this document with your
BladeCenter documentation for future reference.
