11.1

General information about error detection

For your personal safety and in order to prevent material damage it is essential that you
carefully follow the instructions provided in Chapter "Safety information (Page 13)", and
especially Chapter "Notes for operator protection (Page 16)". Comply with all safety-related
instructions in your product documentation. Pay particular attention to the safety notices on
the product itself.
Every converter is subject to individual inspection and warm up at the factory. Therefore
errors in the device during the initial commissioning can be almost ruled out. In most cases,
faults usually originate from the peripherals such as incorrect wiring or missing agreement
for the respective application.
The most frequent causes of errors during the initial commissioning are shown below:

All three LEDs on the display, i.e.
"READY", "RUN" and "FAULT" are off
(dark).
LED "READY" is lit.
LEDs "RUN" and "FAULT" are off
(dark)
The converter cannot be started.
LED "RUN" is lit.
LEDs "READY" and "FAULT" are off
(dark)
The converter / motor does not
operate satisfactorily.
LED "FAULT" is lit.
LEDs "READY" and "RUN" are off

Possible causes
There is no voltage at the
converter.
The On command does not
arrive.
The On command you select-
ed is not preselected.

Fault rectification
Measure the control voltage at -X5 (see the order-
specific customer documentation)
Trace the path to the converter.
Check the parameter assignment.
Has the Local or Remote option been correctly prese-
lected?
Have you commissioned the drive system as described
in Chapter "Commissioning (Page 69)"?
Perform the Auto-Tuning again.
The fault message is shown on the display in plain
text. You can also invoke the event log. You can find
additional information in Chapter "Reading event log
(Page 132)".
Siemens provides a list with all messages which are
shown on the display and possible remedies on the
Internet.
