* Some CD-Rs and CD-RWs have Track Skip marks recorded. If
this mark is recorded to a track, it is always skipped. This unit
cannot record or erase these Track Skip marks.
How to rebuild the HDD
If "EMERGENCY / YES? = SET" appears in the
main display, follow the procedure below.
1 Press SET.
"REBUILD?" starts flashing in the main display.
• If you want to erase all the data recorded now,
press SELECT ¢ or SELECT 4 so that "ALL
ERASE?" appears in the main display (each time
your press the button, "REBUILD?" or "ALL
ERASE?" alternately appears), then press SET.
Then follow steps 3 to 5 on page 57 ("Erasing All
Albums—ALL ERASE").
2 Press SET again.
"REBUILDING!" appears in the main display and the
unit starts rebuilding the HDD contents.
• It may take a long time to rebuild the HDD when
many albums and tracks have been recorded.
If the trouble still persists, erase all data using the
ALL ERASE function (see page 57).
Signification
All the tracks on the disc have a Track Skip
mark*.
You are trying to play back a CD which
cannot be played, or there is a problem with
the CD.
The first track on the CD has a Track Skip
mark.
There is no disc loaded on the CD tray.
You are trying to use x4 speed recording
method to record a CD program play.
You are trying to use x4 speed recording
method to record a CD random play.
You are trying to play back a CD-R/RW
which has not been "finalized."
Change the disc.

Wait for a while until the unit finds another
track without a Track Skip mark.

This is not a malfunction.
After you have rebuilt the HDD, the following
symptom may be observed.
• Library names you have assigned may be reset to the original
names.
• All albums in the HDD may be renumbered newly and will
be relocated in libraries.
• Some albums or track may be erased from the HDD.
These are required to normalize the HDD, and are not
malfunctions.
