Installing a memory module Memory modules can be installed in the memory module slots on the base of the computer. You will need a small Phillips screwdriver for this procedure. If the computer has been running recently, the memory module may be hot.

Carefully remove the new memory module from its antistatic packaging, without touching its connector. 10 Locate an empty memory module slot on the underside of the computer. If no memory slot is available, you must remove a module by performing steps 2-3 of “Removing a memory module” on page 31. If your system has the memory modules stacked on top of one another, you must remove the top module first before removing/installing the bottom module.

TECHNICAL NOTE: Your optical drive is set to play region 1 (North America) DVD-ROMs. If you play a DVD disc from another region, the drive will automatically change to play in the format of the other region. The drive will allow you to change regions four times. On the fourth change, the region will be “locked in.”...

If you incorrectly handle the discs, you could lose data. Make sure the disc is completely on the spindle and is lying flat on the tray. If you insert the disc incorrectly, it may jam the drive. If this happens, contact Toshiba support for assistance.
Push the disc tray in by pressing gently on the center of the tray until it clicks into place. You are ready to use the disc. Removing a disc with the computer on To remove an optical disc with the computer turned on: Press the eject button on the drive.

Mobile computing Removing the battery from the computer To remove the battery: Save your work. Turn off the computer or place it in Hibernation mode according to the instructions in “Using and configuring Hibernation mode” in the electronic user’s guide. Unplug and remove any cables connected to the computer, including the AC adaptor.
If the battery is leaking or its case is cracked, put on protective gloves to handle it, and discard it immediately. Always dispose of used battery packs in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Put insulating tape, such as cellophane tape, on the electrode during transportation to avoid a possible short circuit, fire or electric shock.

If something goes wrong If something goes wrong Problems that are easy to fix Your program stops responding. If you are working with a program that suddenly freezes all operations, chances are the program has stopped responding. You can exit the failed program without shutting down the operating system or closing other programs.
