    Removing the bezel When working with some options, such as a CD-ROM drive or diskette drive, you must first remove the bezel to access the option. To install or remove options, you might find it easier to lay the computer on its side. Complete the following steps to remove the bezel: 1.

    v The drives that are preinstalled in your computer come with power and signal cables attached. If you replace any drives, remember which cable is attached to which drive. v When you install a drive, make sure that one of the drive connectors of the signal cable is connected to the drive and that the connector at the other end of the signal cable is connected to the system board.

  • Page 41 9. Insert the DIMM into the connector. Firmly press the DIMM straight down into the connector by applying pressure on both ends of the DIMM simultaneously. The retaining clips snap into the locked position when the DIMM is firmly seated in the connector. If there is a gap between the DIMM and the retaining clips, the DIMM has not been correctly installed.

    Approximately 20 seconds after the computer is connected to ac power, the power-control button becomes active, and you can turn on the computer and start the operating system by pressing the power-control button. The computer can also be turned on any of the following ways: v If a power failure occurs while the computer is turned on, the computer will restart automatically when power is restored.
