The P111CB is a horn loudspeaker, designed for maximum efficiency in the
vocal range. It therefore has a limited frequency response of 250 Hz to 8 kHz,
which does not include bass frequencies. The loudspeaker may be damaged if
driven with excessive amounts of bass frequencies. If a bass control is available
on the amplifier then it should be turned fully anticlockwise to reduce the
amount of bass.
On specialised 100 Volt line amplifiers there may be a "low-cut" or "high-pass"
filter switch which eliminates low bass frequencies from the output. If this
switch is available, then it should be switched ON. If there is a choice of
frequencies on the filter, use 300 Hz.
Output is very quiet on a low impedance amplifier:
The P111CB is not for use on a low impedance amplifier – use a 100 Volt line
amplifier.
Excessive distortion on music signals:
The signal contains too much bass. The P111CB is not designed to reproduce
bass frequencies.
Excessive distortion on voice announcements:
The microphone is being held too close, which increases the amount of bass in
the signal. Hold the microphone further away, or reduce the bass control on
the amplifier.
Feedback (howlround):
The loudspeaker has been mounted too close to the microphone. Either move
the loudspeaker further from the microphone, or rotate it to point away from
the microphone.
