The server comes with a PCI Express riser-card assembly installed. You can remove the assembly and install an optional PCI-X assembly. Chapter 3. Configuring the server The following configuration programs come with the server: v IBM ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD The ServerGuide that are designed for the server. Use this CD during the installation of the server to configure basic hardware features and to simplify the installation of your operating system.
IBM Director IBM Director is a workgroup-hardware-management tool that you can use to centrally manage System x servers. If you plan to use IBM Director to manage the server, you must check for the latest applicable IBM Director updates and interim fixes.
When you use the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD, you do not need setup diskettes. You can use the CD to configure any supported IBM server model. The setup program provides a list of tasks that are required to set up your server model.
