The Fibre Channel RAID controller has two status LEDs on each of the two Fiber
Channel host connectors. The following tables show the Fibre Channel host
connector status LEDs.
Cache memory and RAID controller battery
Each RAID controller contains 256 MB of cache memory. It also contains a sealed,
rechargeable lithium ion battery that maintains data in the cache in the event of a
power failure. This battery provides cache backup for up to three days in the event
of a power loss. The service life of the battery is 36 months, after which time the
battery must be replaced. For information about replacing the battery, see
"Replacing the cache battery in the RAID controller" on page 48.
Turning the storage subsystem on and off
This section contains instructions for turning the storage subsystem on and off
under normal and emergency situations.
If you are turning on the storage subsystem after an emergency shutdown or power
outage, see "Restoring power after an emergency shutdown" on page 40.
Turning on the storage subsystem
Complete the following steps to turn on the power for the initial startup of the
storage subsystem.
1. Make sure that:

a. All communication and power cables are connected to the back of the
storage subsystem and a properly grounded ac electrical outlet.
b. All hard disk drives are locked securely in place. For more information, see
"Installing a hot-swap hard disk drive" on page 44.
Attention:
If you are restarting the system after a normal shutdown, wait at
least 10 seconds before you turn on the power by using the power-on sequence
in step 2 on page 37.
